How much does TRT cost in the UK? The full first-year bill

Private TRT is priced in five parts: assessment, medication, monitoring bloods, blood collection and doctor time. At Harrington, ongoing care is £24 a month if you manage your own treatment, or from £99 a month all-inclusive on an injectable plan. Compare a full 12 months, not the headline fee.

The advertised monthly price of private TRT is rarely what you end up paying. Some clinics quote a low membership and charge separately for medication, bloods and every appointment. Others bundle almost everything. Neither is wrong, but they cannot be compared at face value.

The five parts of the bill

    PartWhat it isWhere costs hide
AssessmentScreening test, fuller venous panel and a consultation. BSSM guidance calls for symptoms plus two low results before treatment is consideredA "consultation" that is only a questionnaire
MedicationInjectable is generally the least expensive route; topical and oral cost moreDispensing and delivery fees
Monitoring bloodsBlood count, PSA and other safety markers, most often in year onePaid per test, or not scheduled at all
Blood collectionSomeone has to take the sample£40–£65 a time at some providers

    What about the NHS?

Start with your GP, who may refer you if tests suggest a problem. NHS treatment costs only the standard prescription charge in England, with exemptions and prepayment certificates available. Access and waiting times vary by area, which is why many men look privately.

What we charge to get started

    • New to treatment: our at-home Initial Blood Test is £40 (currently £32 with our launch offer). If your result suggests it, the full assessment is £169: an Enhanced Blood Test of more than 50 markers plus a dedicated video consultation with a GMC-registered doctor. A conversation, not a questionnaire reviewed out of sight.
    • Already on TRT elsewhere: a doctor reviews your records first. Once approved, your transfer consultation is free. You only pay £99 for an Enhanced Blood Test if your results are over six months old or incomplete.
    • Collection: free through your GP or own clinic, £45 at a partner clinic or Superdrug, £65 for a home nurse.

Two ways to pay for ongoing care

You only join a plan once a doctor agrees treatment is right for you.

Concierge — injectable plans from £99 a month. One fee covers medication, delivery and laboratory analysis of your monitoring bloods, each set reviewed by your named doctor. The same named doctor throughout, and a named case manager. Topical plans start from £142 and oral from £192. Paying annually costs the same as ten monthly payments. The type of medication you are prescribed is agreed with your doctor, based on your discussion and your preferences.

Core — £24 a month or £240 a year. For settled patients who want to run their own treatment. You have a named doctor, health tracking and our patient support team; medication is ordered separately through our nominated pharmacy partner (published ranges: roughly £15–£65 a month for injectable treatment), and you book monitoring bloods when due, usually twice a year once settled.

On both plans a doctor review call is £49 whenever you want one, collection is separate, and there is a six-month minimum term, then monthly with 30 days' notice.

What a first year looks like

Arithmetic from our published prices, not quotes. Injectable treatment at the "from" price; two monitoring tests a year for established patients, four in a first year of treatment.

Why the cheapest monthly fee can cost more

A low headline fee can hide renewal charges, paid monitoring and collection. A higher all-inclusive fee can work out cheaper over a year. Ask any clinic three questions:

    1. What will the next 12 months cost, in writing?
    2. Which doctor will I actually speak to?
    3. Who do I contact when something goes wrong?

The last two are not on a price list but matter as much. Every Harrington patient has a named, GMC-registered doctor and a real person in our patient support team. Switching from another clinic? See how to switch without a gap in treatment.
